What's the word again?

I don't think I could have made this point any better:

If you haven't caught any of the Daily Show's coverage of the DNC and RNC, you owe it to yourself to hit the backlog. Despite, or perhaps because of, being a "fake news" show, I have to say that it continues to present some of the most biting, on-point, and informative commentary on the state of modern politics and culture that can be found anywhere in this country. There's a reason so many of my generation turn to it.

This isn't to say that if you don't watch it there's something wrong with you. I'm just saying that I think its popularity, at very least, is a thing worth paying attention to in and of itself.

I sincerely believe the Daily Show to be one of the best and most important things on TV. As much as it bills itself as a comedy show, it's often the only thing out there honestly, if sometimes bitingly, reporting on major issues. We need Jon Stewart to tell us that the emperor has no clothes.

It was Jon Stewart himself who said he longs for the day when politics, the media and society make the Daily Show's style of comedy obsolete...that is to say, when politics, the media and society function to a degree where they can't be lampooned. Until that day, he remains my hero.

Oh C'Mon Emily. If you aren't watching the Daily Show there IS something wrong with you.

Michael and DC - Thoroughly agreed.

3W - We should be careful to differentiate between those who can't watch it for whatever reason, and those who actively choose not to. :)
