Support local bookstore and author

Well now this is pretty awesome - Madison's finest independent bookseller, A Room of One's Own, is now carrying copies of my book, The Fix Up, for sale at their store!

If you find yourself in town, be sure to stop in and 1) pick up a copy for yourself, and 2) support a great local business. Those crazy big box retailers have been pushing these wonderful, valuable small bookstores out of business lately, and so we're lucky to still have one like Room in Madison. You should also check out their website, where it's possible to order just about any book you want and have them ship it to you or do an in-store pick-up. Good deal!

Check out all of the ways you can get a copy of my book here.

You mean I can't pick up a copy at the Wal-Mart Super Center? Fiiiiiine...

(that's fantastic to hear... guess where I'll be stopping on my way home from work?)

You should, just for exposure to the sheer wastefulness of the exercise, try to get your book in the "boxes." The process is, mildly put, temper-testing. No one will return your calls, your books will be lost, or incorrectly priced, or put in the wrong place, or hidden behind the Where's Waldo rejects. If you are lucky and persistent, you might get in the "local author" section, which at least gives you some exposure. (And is the best way to get into the stores.) You could also get on the list of local authors willing to read a little from your book on a Wednesday afternoon. Every little bit helps. You will surely meet people who know you but you didn't know them. It's fun to meet people who can read, believe me.

George - Are you talking about A Room of One's Own? Because they've been very good about setting up an in-store reading date with me (working out details now). And I can only assume the book will be under the "local authors" section.

Or were you talking about something/place else?

no no. I was talking about the big big stores. Not "Room." Nice people there. Totally different.

Aha! That makes a lot more sense. I'm keeping that in mind, but honestly I don't know that I want my book in the big big stores. At least, not this particular book. But we'll see. Thanks!
